Zusammenfassung: | The emergence of language learning and teaching research (Sprachlehrforschung) marks an important break in the historical development of the study of teaching and learning foreign languages in the German-speaking context. After about four decades of intensive research and publishing activity, it seems appropriate to discuss whether the concepts and theories that are frequently assumed to be common knowledge have been proven effective and/or have been able to be confirmed. After a short instruction (chapter 1), the article summarizes the most important positions with which language learning and teaching research has tried to define the boundaries between neighbouring disciplines (chapter 2). By looking at eight topics that have been chosen paradigmatically and very subjectively, the author examines research trends and subsequent developments, as well as inconsistencies, gaps, and further questions (chapter 3). The article ends with a short conclusion, including a more fundamental and detailed evaluation of the findings. (Verlag, adapt.). |
