Intervención educativa para la prevención del cáncer de pulmón en una comunidad del municipio Morón

Introduction: lung cancer represents a serious health problem, even though there are advances and clinical trials related to its treatment. In this sense, it is urgent to formulate strategies aimed at preventing the disease from primary health care.Objective: implement an educational intervention for the prevention of lung cancer in the population over 15 years of age, belonging to the "La Garita" community from Morón municipality, Ciego de Ávila province.Methods: a pre-experimental intervention study was carried out, with a before and after design, in the period from September to December 2019. It worked with the entire universe, which consisted of 65 patients, selected by intentional non-probabilistic sampling. For the analysis of the results, absolute and relative percentage frequencies were used, and to measure the level of information, the Student's t-statistic test for related samples.Results: female patients (58,5 %), from the age group from 45 to 59 years (33,8 %) and with a high school education level (32,3 %) predominated. Before the intervention, 44 (67,7 %) had a low level of information, after the intervention, 81,6 % of the participants were in the high category.Conclusions: the implementation of the educational intervention showed a highly significant increase in the information levels about lung cancer in the studied population.
