Zusammenfassung: | The Badajoz-Elvas Meetings are, undoubtedly, one of the most relevant historical events that occurred in Badajoz. In essence, the gatherings that took place between the months of April and May 1524 were a high-level scientific discussion. For a few weeks, these two cities became the center of international politics, in them, the two predominant naval powers of the time, Castile and Portugal, tried to reach an agreement to share the world. Specifically, these meetings were held mainly to specify the location of the Moluccas Islands (Spice Islands) and, consequently, to know which kingdom they belonged to. Actually, it was discussed about the consolidation of the economic power granted by the trade in species and, therefore, hegemony as a dominant State.
