Zusammenfassung: | In order to identify the diagnostic criteria for Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) in women of
reproductive age and to know how many women meet a minimum of 3 Amsel criteria. Three
methods were performed, among them are the Amsel Method, which is the one that evaluates
four diagnostic criteria, vaginal pH> 4.5, positive amine test, observation of "clue cells" and
presence of adherent, homogeneous, grayish vaginal discharge , the Nugent method in which
the direct microscopic examination of the vaginal sample is evaluated by means of Gram stain,
using the criteria of Nugent et al., and finally the statistical analysis that allows the calculations
of sensitivity, specificity and predictive values positive (PPV) and negative (NPV) that are
calculated according to their usual formulas. According to the results of the Gram stain under
the Nugent et al. Criteria, 171 women out of 241 who were studied, presented vaginal infection
with Gram negative bacilli. The age group under 24 years of age was significantly older or was
more associated with the positivity of the amine test in relation to the rest of the ages. According
to the population studied, it is concluded that 70 of 241 women meet a minimum of 3 Amsel
criteria, most of the patients with vaginosis are in the range of 24 to 33 years of age. The risk
factor with the greatest significance was the non-use of contraceptive methods
