MOSTRAS CIENTÍFICAS COMO FERRAMENTA DE DIVULGAÇÃO NO MUNICÍPIO DE PORTO NACIONAL, TO: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA COM A COLEÇÃO DIDÁTICA DE VERTEBRADOS

This work is a report on the extension project Tools for scientific dissemination in ichthyology and conservation of the Tocantins-Araguaia River basin, developed by the Federal University of Tocantins, Porto Nacional campus. In the context of scientific dissemination and university extension, the project aimed to present the diversity of ichthyofauna and other vertebrates through scientific exhibits from the didactic vertebrate collection at the campus, in schools and pu-blic places in the community. The project involved the participation of several students, in addition to the general public, to whom printed explanatory materials were distributed. Activities were developed with the students to bring them into contact with the material in the laboratory. On the basis of a questionnaire answered by the teachers responsible for the classes, the importance of the action for the democratization of knowledge and the popularization of science was highlighted, in addition to attracting young students to the university. Este trabalho constitui-se de um relato do projeto de extensão Ferramentas de divulgação científica em ictiologia e conservação da bacia do rio Tocantins-Araguaia, desenvolvido pela Universidade Federal do Tocantins, campus de Porto Nacional. No contexto da divulgação científica e extensão universitária, o projeto objetivou apresentar a diversidade da ictiofauna e de outros vertebrados por meio de mostras científicas da coleção didática de vertebrados no CPN, em escolas e em locais públicos do município. O projeto contou com a participação de diversos estudantes, além do público geral, aos quais foram distribuídos materiais explicativos impressos. Com os estudantes, foram desenvolvidas atividades que proporcionaram contato com o material no laboratório. A partir de um questionário respondido pelos professores responsáveis pelas turmas, ressaltou-se a importância da ação para a democratização do conhecimento e popularização da ciência, além de atrair jovens estudantes para a universidade.
