Demanda de la formación del psicólogo clínico en el contexto social y de salud

The demand for clinical psychologists in the social and health context of Ecuador continues to grow, highlighting the need for a comprehensive approach to mental health services. As the country faces various health and social challenges, it is crucial to recognize the importance of having well-trained professionals who can provide effective care and support; The purpose of this research was to determine the demand for clinical psychologist training in Ecuador. The applied methodology had a quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional and field approach, data collection was carried out in the period August 2022-July 2023, the design is non-experimental, the sample consisted of 41 academics, 90 students, 24 employers and 120 clinical psychology professionals, with a total of 275 people. The technique used was the survey and as an instrument questionnaires addressed to employers, graduates, students and academics were created, the reliability analysis was carried out, finding that the questionnaires have acceptable reliability. For the questionnaire addressed to employers the (α=0.75), for graduates (α=0.73), for students (α=0.77) and for academics the (α8=0.68). The main results obtained indicate that 66.6% of students, 95% of clinical psychologist professionals, 66.7% of employers and 63.4% academics consider that clinical psychologists will be very necessary for the development of the country, therefore It was therefore concluded that the demand for training clinical psychologists in Ecuador lies in their ability to address the growing mental health needs of the population, their cultural sensitivity, evidence-based practices, interdisciplinary collaborations, and advocacy efforts. By continuing to promote and prioritize clinical psychology, we can contribute to the general well-being and resilience of Ecuadorian individuals and communities.
