Funciones y protocolos del trabajador social en la atención a usuarios en centros de cuidados del adulto mayor

One of the fields of greatest demand of the social worker is that carried out in the social welfare sector, where its responsibility is to intervene to propose changes that give solutions to the conflicts of society; that is, it is formed to interpret the challenges and problems of social groups. This research study aims to analyze the functions and protocols of the Social Worker in the care of users in care centers of the elderly. A descriptive - exploratory, non-experimental, quantitative approach methodology was used; it also required the use of the bibliographic method for the theoretical sustenance of the variables under study, and a statistical method that allowed the processing of the obtained information. As a technique the survey was applied on the basis of an opinion poll aimed at older adults of the Foundation "Protective ladies of the elderly of the city of Portoviejo", with a population of 110 people, of which a sample of 50 older adults was taken users of it. In conclusion it was managed to identify that the processes that are followed in the Foundation, demand from a series of actions carried out by the professional in Social Work, who within his intervention make arrangements for recreational care and application of the admission and transfers to hospital medical centres. On the other hand, older adults consider the work of social workers, a professional trained to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of this study group, very valuable. Uno de los campos de mayor demanda del trabajador social es el realizado en el sector de bienestar social, donde su responsabilidad es intervenir para proponer cambios que den soluciones a los conflictos de la sociedad; es decir, se forma para interpretar los retos y problemas de grupos sociales. El presente estudio investigativo, tiene como objetivo analizar las funciones y protocolos del trabajador social en la atención a usuarios en centros de cuidados del adulto mayor. Se utilizó una metodología de tipo descriptiva - exploratoria, no experimental, con enfoque cuantitativo; así mismo, se requirió el uso del método bibliográfico para el sustento teórico de las variables en estudio, y método estadístico que permitió procesar la información obtenida.
