Zusammenfassung: | Introduction: The transition from in-person teaching to emergency remote teaching (ERT) due to the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted a range
of innovations to ensure the continuity of the curriculum and meet the formation of appropriate competencies for later professionals. It was a
unique experience that forced us to implement innovative teaching strategies.
Objective: To describe a teaching experience of the adaptation
process of the Midwives’ education at the University of Chile during the pandemic between 2020-2021, considering the following three areas:
adaptations of teachers and students, teaching and learning methods, and learning outcome assessment systems.
Material and Methods: the information contained in the institutional files, such as minutes of meetings, institutional documents, activities register, and course programs, was systematized and analyzed. An opinion survey was applied to the fourth-level students of the career about the teaching process on online-clinical
practices during the pandemic.
Results: The adaptation in the study plan due to the pandemic focused on the review of educational content and methodologies, the courses
were prioritized and adapted in a limited time. The internal and external resources of the institution were strengthened to ensure the continuity of
the study plan. According to the students’ opinion, the online-clinical courses allowed the achievement of learning objectives, clinical reasoning,
and are an essential input for their future clinical practices in the field.
Conclusion: The commitment to maintain the continuity of the training of
Midwives during the pandemic meant the transformation of the training process so that it responds to learning achievements that lead to the formation of professional skills declared in the graduation profile, with the limitations of distance education. Keywords: Competency-based training,
