Zusammenfassung:In the province of Chimborazo, belonging to zone three, according to the distribution of the SEMPLANES, 191 pisciculture productions were characterized, distributed in nine of the ten cantons: Riobamba, Alusí, Chambo, Chunchi, Colta, Penipe, Guamote, Pallatanga and Cumanda; to determine the potentialities and weaknesses of the aquaculture area at provincial level, being excluded the Guano canton where fishing activity is not recorded. The social and productive component of each of the stations was studied, data that was analyzed individually, and cantonal and provincial averages. From the total universe of producers, 76% are active and the remaining 24% are passive fish farmers; mainly due to the shortage of good quality seed. It is important to indicate that only 6% of producers maintain the raising of fish as the main economic means within their production systems, where agriculture and livestock lead as economic activities of family sustenance. In terms of productive parameters at provincial level, average densities of 46 fish / m3 in trout and 8 fish / m3 in tilapia are managed; obtaining plate type fish of 250gr - 300gr in 7 months in both species, attaining a total of 49.898 Kg meat, with Alausí as the canton with the highest production. The provincial mortality average is high, with a 20%. The most evident cause of losses was the presence of mycosis, with 69% of cases at provincial level mainly due to the bad flow management (water exchange). Therefore, it is recommended to link the 191 fish producers, making them aware of the importance of working in partnership to strengthen themselves, and in turn to carry out studies of each of the parameters required in aquaculture production, such as water quality, densities and flow training En la provincia de Chimborazo, perteneciente a la zona tres según la distribución de la SEMPLANES, se caracterizó 191 producciones piscícolas, distribuidas en nueve de los diez cantones: Riobamba, Alusí, Chambo, Chunchi, Colta, Penipe, Guamote, Pallatanga y Cumanda, para determinar las potencialidades y debilidades en el área acuícola a nivel provincial, siendo excluido el cantón Guano en donde no se registró actividad piscícola.
