Zusammenfassung:TInserted in an extensive continent and with different atmospheric agentsin force, the Brazilian Northeast (NEB) stands out for being an area with climatic specificities, having high temperatures and irregular rainfall. Also in this context is Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and, consequently, an area of study for this work. A climate analysis was carried out, over a period of 30 years (1973 -2002), of the municipalities of Portalegre and Francisco Dantas, carried out in the Oeste Potiguar mesoregion, where different climatic behavior was verified, as it is a mountainous area. For the methodology, we used the methodological framework of Medeiros (2016) in addition to bibliographical references such as those by Schmidt (2014), Mendonça and Danni-Oliveira (2007), Ayoade (2016), Reboita et al. (2012), among others. As for the data, thepluviometric data were made available by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMPARN) and the temperature data were acquired through the Estima T software, following the model of Cavalcanti and Silva (1994), it does not qualify as averages, maximums and minimums with based on latitude, longitude and altitude data. After tabulating the data, the climatological water balance was generated, according to the model proposed by Thornthwaite and Mather (1955). For Portalegre the average rainfall evidenced was 929.52 mm and 23.22 ºC as thermal average. Francisco Dantas, on the other hand, the average exclusion value found was 823.73 mm and its thermal average was 26.61 ºC. From the data generated in the water balance, we have the climate formulas C1wA ’(Dry Subhumid Megathermal, with moderate water surplus in summer) for Portalegre and C1dA’ (Dry Subhumid Megathermal with little or no water surplus) for Francisco Dantas.
