Zusammenfassung:During the years 2016 and 2017 a series of explorations were carried out on the coast of the Paraná River, from the city of Itatí (Corrientes, Argentina) to about 10 km to the west, near San Cosme. Considering this spatial segment, the realization of systematic surface collections was proposed, recognizing several sectors where the frequency of recovered material (mainly ceramics) is high. Each of these “sites” was referenced with the following names, from east to west: Itatí, Yaguarí, Tres Marías, María de los Ángeles de Yaguarí 1, María de los Ángeles de Yaguarí 2 and Tabacué (in the latter, surveys and excavations were also carried out). This area is of special importance as it is part of one of the first regions where contact was made between the local indigenous populations and the European conquerors, commanded by Sebastian Cabot in 1528. In this same place would have given the seat of the first Franciscan mission in the area, which in 1615 would be reinstalled, and would begin the development of the current city of Itatí. Here we present the preliminary results of the analysis of the recovered ceramics and discuss the possibility that these sites are part of the same sociocultural context. It also investigates the possibility that part of the findings could be considered as material evidence about early Hispanic-indigenous contact in the region. In principle, it is clear that in the material set analyzed are presented many ceramics with decorative styles that are generally associated with the historical Guarani peoples.
