Experiencias autonómicas en el movimiento mapuche

Since the 1990s, it is possible to see the emergence of a new stage of indigenous mobilizations in Latin America. Chile was not the exception, it being possible to verify the same scenario of indigenous mobilization here too, particularly the Mapuche. The latter in the context of a conflict between the Chilean state and the Mapuche people, and a weak legislative framework of protection of indigenous peoples. In this article we will analyse two organizations: the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco, and the Asociación de Municipalidades con Alcaldes Mapuche (AMCAM). These are two different organizations, but which are both part of the Mapuche movement, using different forms of participation to struggle, among other demands, for autonomy and self-determination as objectives to achieve. Desde la década de los noventa es posible afirmar la emergencia de una nueva fase de la movilización indígena en América Latina. Chile no fue la excepción, verificándose también desde entonces un escenario de movilización indígena, particularmente mapuche. Lo anterior, en un contexto de conflicto entre el Estado y el pueblo mapuche, y con un marco legislativo de defensa de derechos indígenas limitado. En este artículo se analizará, por una parte, la Coordinadora Arauco Malleco y, por otra, la Asociación de Municipalidades con Alcaldes Mapuche (AMCAM). Ambas organizaciones distintas, pero que forman parte del movimiento mapuche y que desde formas de actuación diferentes plantean, entre otras demandas, la autonomía y la autodeterminación como objetivos a conseguir.
