Zusammenfassung:In the last thirty years, university and scientific policies in Argentina have promoted transformations in the orientation of their academic career, influenced by trends of international scope and other local ones. The implementation of an evaluation system for universities and the accreditation of their offers, the creation of a research incentive program and the expansion of the training of qualified human resources, shaped the work of university teachers in several ways. Needless to say, the private sector has been little explored by the local scientific production. In this framework, the article analyzes some general guidelines regarding teaching and research activities of private universities in Argentina. In order to do this, the following dimensions are explored: teaching categories, access mechanisms, permanence and promotion, evaluation and training devices, and remuneration policy. Then, it focuses on a case study in two private research universities, in order to investigate the main criteria and evaluative cultures of their activity. The approach to the study is qualitative and draws on the analysis of documentary data and interviews with institutional authorities. The central argument holds that teaching and research regulations of private universities are shaped by a set of orientations linked to public policies of the university and scientific sector, institutional logics, as well as international disciplinary dynamics. All in all, isomorphic trends emerge, as well as innovative devices. En los últimos treinta años, las políticas universitarias en la Argentina han promovido transformaciones en la orientación de la carrera docente/académica, en adelante CD/CA, de las universidades influenciadas por tendencias de alcance internacional y otras locales. La implementación de un sistema de evaluación de las instituciones universitarias y de acreditación de sus ofertas, sumado a la creación de programas de incentivo a la investigación y de ampliación de la formación de recursos humanos calificados, moldearon el trabajo de los docentes universitarios en varios sentidos, siendo el sector privado un ámbito poco explorado por la producción científica. En ese marco, el artículo analiza algunos lineamientos de las funciones docentes e investigativas en los regímenes de CD/CA en el circuito de universidades privadas del país.
