Zusammenfassung:To point out the role of the Ministry of Health's Permanent Education Policy (EP) as one of the central axes for the improvement of professional career training in the Brazilian National Health System, called the Unified Health System (SUS), considering its guidelines. and application in Health Work Management Policies; having as main element of analysis the Career Plans, Positions and Salaries implemented, according to the perception of managers and servants. The method was Qualitative approach research, which was undertaken bibliographic research, document analysis, semi-structured interviews with managers and focus groups with health professionals working in UBS and a hospital. The analysis of the statements was anchored in the Content Analysis, through the construction of thematic nuclei, meaning nuclei and categories. Results, it was found that the actions of PE expand the competence of health professionals autonomously, engaging them in the development of health actions and qualifying health teams. It is understood that PE should be recognized as a criterion for the progression of SUS professional careers, by proposing continuing education aimed at improving work processes and matching the improvement of training with the qualification of technical practices in daily health services. Final considerations, awareness of the importance of PE needs to be disseminated as knowledge that transforms, multiplies and expands personal and paradigmatic horizons. Therefore, PE needs to be thought of as a guiding thread for the personal and professional evolution of these actors who build the National Health System. O artigo objetiva apontar o papel da Política de Educação Permanente (EP) do Ministério da Saúde como um dos eixos centrais para o aperfeiçoamento da formação nas carreiras profissionais no Sistema Nacional de Saúde do Brasil, denominado Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS), considerando suas diretrizes e aplicação nas Políticas de Gestão do Trabalho em Saúde; tendo como elemento principal de análise os Planos de Carreiras, Cargos e Salários implantados, segundo a percepção de gestores e servidores. Adotou-se o método de pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa, em que se empreendeu pesquisa bibliográfica, análise documental, entrevistas semiestruturadas com os gestores e grupos focais com profissionais da saúde que atuam em UBS e num Hospital.
