Zusammenfassung:This article seeks to analyze the perception of students of the Au-tonomous University of Yucatan who attend the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 8th semester of the Degree in Social Work, regarding the topics of Family Violence and School per-formance. The research arises from the interest of knowing the connotations that result from these themes exposed by students from their perception as future professionals in the social area. The purpose of this study is to generate accurate information on the meanings of family violence and school performance in order to propose new intervention strategies in Social Work that favor the well-being of society. This research is of mixed scope and type of explanatory study, due to the fact that the information collection method was through a semantic network and the focus group interview technique. In this procedure, the approach of the collective meaning of the aforementioned words and the causes that determine them was known. Among the outstanding results of Family Violence are: beatings, mistreatment and insults; and in question to School Performance are: stress, responsibility and economy. In conclusion, both themes revolve around a large number of vulnerable populations. On the one hand, the term family violence is used when someone with more power abuses other people with less and alludes to all forms of abuse that take place in relationships between family members; and on the other hand, the School Performance is nowadays one of the central themes in the educational field, due to the great challenge that is to transform the great information into personal knowledge to function effectively in life. El presente artículo busca analizar la percepción de estudiantes de la Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY) que cursan el segundo, tercer, cuarto, sexto y octavo semestre de la Licenciatura en Trabajo Social (LTS) en cuanto a las temáticas de violencia familiar y el rendimiento escolar. La investigación surge del interés de conocer cuáles son las connotaciones que resultan de dichas temáticas expuestas por los estudiantes desde su percepción como futuros profesionales en el área de lo social. El presente estudio tiene la finalidad de generar información precisa de los significados de violencia familiar y rendimiento escolar para proponer nuevas estrategias de intervención en el trabajo social que propicien el bienestar de la sociedad.
