Castillo de Aixita (Etxeberri-Irurtzun). Campaña arqueológica de 2020

The archaeological intervention in the castilian rock castle of Aixita is presented, located in the crag of las dos Hermanas (Etxeberri). In this campaign three archaeological surveys and the consolidation of the tower of the homage, which was in bad condition and with few remains, have been accomplished. The surveys have allowed the study of an statigraphic sequence of the destruction and the abandonment. The dating has reported a chronology of construction of around XII century. Se presenta la última campaña de intervención arqueológica en el castillo roquero de Aixita, situado sobre la peña de las dos Hermanas –Etxeberri–. En esta campaña se han realizado tres sondeos arqueológicos y una consolidación de la torre del homenaje, la cual presentaba mal estado, con pocos restos visibles. Los sondeos han permitido estudiar la secuencia estratigráfica de la destrucción y abandono. Las dataciones realizadas nos han reportado una cronología de construcción situada en el siglo XII. Aixitako harkaitz-gazteluan egindako azken kanpaina arkeologikoa aurkezten da; gaztelu hori Biaizpeko haitzaren gainean dago, Etxeberrin. Kanpaina honetan, hiru zundaketa arkeologiko egin dira, eta dorre nagusiaren sendotze-lana, dorre hori egoera txarrean baitzegoen, agerian aztarna gutxi zituela. Zundaketei esker, suntsipenaren eta bertan behera uztearen sekuentzia estratigrafikoa aztertu ahal izan da. Egindako datazioek erakutsi digute XII. mendean eraiki zutela.
