Algunas ideas en torno al anti-americanismo chileno durante la primera mitad del siglo XX

This paper analyzes some of the main manifestations of Chilean anti-Americanism during the first half of the twentieth century, with a focus on the interwar period. It is suggested that three main factors motivated anti-US sentiment in Chile during the study period: US interventions in Latin America; close links between Washington and Chile’s international rivals; and the growing US economic influence in the South American country. Se analizan algunas de las principales manifestaciones del anti-americanismo chileno durante la primera mitad del siglo XX, con énfasis en el periodo de entreguerras. Se sugiere que el sentimiento anti-Estados Unidos en Chile, durante la época en estudio, fue motivado por tres factores principales: las constantes intervenciones del país del norte en Latinoamérica; la cercanía de Washington con naciones rivales de Chile; y la creciente influencia económica de Estados Unidos en el país austral.
