Zusammenfassung: | The objective of this study was to
generate a theoretical explanation of university
management in the postgraduate programs
of the National Open University (UNA) of
Venezuela. The context was the Directorate
of Research and Postgraduate Studies (DIP)
of the UNA. The study units were comprised
by six (6) coordinators of the graduate
programs of this directorate. This research
design fits into the category of a field study,
and a contemporary and multivariable crosssectional approach.
The method used was the grounded
theory whose data revealed new concepts
and relationships that were built analytically
and systematically, in order to organize the
categories in terms of their properties, which
in turn served to elaborate the theoretical
explanation. The epistemic approach was
based on structuralism; the type of research
was explanatory and the data analysis
techniques used were qualitative.
In-depth interviews were used through
a matrix of categories for the different topics
related to the conditions present in the
University’s management. Results indicated
that, in these management processes, there
are fundamental elements such as planning,
organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating
that are present as pre-existing conditions,
while the conditions that accompanied these
processes were administration, teaching and
research.
The postgraduate programs were
compared, and several relevant or significant
conditions emerged within the framework of
the categories developed in the University’s
management, and with which their theoretically
generated relations were formulated.
L'objectif de la recherche était de générer une explication théorique de la gestion universitaire dans les programmes de troisième cycle de l'Université nationale ouverte (UNA) du Venezuela. Le contexte était la Direction de la recherche et desétudes supérieures (DIP) de l'UNA. Les unités d'étude ont été formées par six (6) coordonnateurs des programmes d'études supérieures de cette direction. Le design appliqué était champ, contemporain et multivariable transectional.
