Con el objeto de determinar la correlación entre diversos factores involucrados con la
presentación de la pubertad, se utilizaron 18 corderos Rambouillet destetados a los 60
días de edad, con un peso de 24.27 3.5 kg. A partir del desprendimiento de la
prolongación uretral, se inició la extracción del semen para su análisis cuantitativo
(volumen y concentración) y cualitativo (morfología y motilidad), cada 14 días hasta la
presentación de la pubertad. Las medidas de la circunferencia y diámetro testicular se
iniciaron a los 3 meses de edad y después cada 14 días, hasta la presentación de la
pubertad; de igual manera se hizo con el peso de los corderos. Se presentó una
correlación positiva (P<0.01) entre el peso de los corderos con la circunferencia escrotal
(r=0.56), la circunferencia escrotal con el diámetro testicular (r=0.72), el diámetro
testicular (P<0.05) con la motilidad espermática (r=0.51) y entre el volumen del
eyaculado (P<0.05) con la motilidad espermática (r=0.53). Por otro lado, se encontró
