Zusammenfassung:Introduction: tattoos have acquired a boom in society, around both genders and all ages, thus reaching a proliferation of establishments that perform this practice. These factors increase the risks of transmission of infectious diseases, especially if personnel with training and with the appropriate hygienic-sanitary means and conditions do not carry out these techniques. Objective: verify the cleaning, disinfection and biosafety processes used in the tattooed centers of the city of Tunja in 2019. Methods: observational study of descriptive type of cross section, taking 32 tattoo centers with a simple random probabilistic sampling. Univariate analysis of variables was performed; the instrument used was a checklist taken from the WHO Biosafety Manual. The data was processed with the use of the SPSS program version 25. Results: it was reported that there are shortcomings in the infrastructure, as it was found that 65.6% do not have a specific area for the washing of the instruments used during the making of the tattoos. Likewise, the deficiency to the adherence to the biosafety norms was found for the accomplishment of the cleaning in a 9.4%. Conclusions: it was possible to demonstrate that the use of Glutaraldehyde predominates for disinfection. Institutional characteristics were identified, evidencing that tattooed centers lack some specific areas for establishment and proper demarcation. The most widely used disinfectant in the tattooed centers is glutaraldehyde, this being a high level disinfectant, guaranteeing the quality of the process applied to the instruments intended for tattooing.
