Zusammenfassung: | The Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) was inaugurated
by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in 1999. It is a university
that, due to its characteristics, is very peculiar, where young
people from more than 80 countries study. For this condition there
is a representation of almost all continents, which leads to the
coexistence of different cultures of their respective nations (crafts,
dances, folk songs, oral narratives, traditions, religions) that are
part of the identity and make this be a different university. This
center has also been a source of inspiration and thanks to several
cultural personalities at national and international level. The work
constitutes an important reference to take into account for the
identification of the university cultural heritage of the ELAM, as well
as its cultural identity and history taking into account everything
that makes the institution a unique and different university. The
development of different actions from the Directorate of University
Extension to achieve the identification of the assets that make up
the tangible, movable and immovable university cultural heritage
and in this way carry out its adequate protection, preservation and
promotion. The objective of the work is to argue the importance of
the identification of the main elements that make up the cultural
heritage of the ELAM in the protection, preservation and promotion
of the historical memory of the university on the 20th anniversary
of its inauguration.
La Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina fue inaugurada por
el Comandante en Jefe Fidel Castro Ruz en el año 1999. Es una
Universidad muy peculiar por sus características; en ella estudian
jóvenes de más de 80 países. Por esta condición existe una
representación de casi todos los continentes, lo que conlleva a la
coexistencia de diferentes culturas de sus respectivas naciones
(artesanía, bailes, cantos populares, narraciones orales, tradiciones,
religiones) que forman parte de la identidad y hacen que esta sea
una universidad diferente. También este centro ha sido fuente de
la inspiración y el agradecimiento de varias personalidades de la
cultura a nivel nacional e internacional. El trabajo constituye un
referente importante a tomar en cuenta para la identificación del
patrimonio cultural universitario de la Escuela Latinoamericana de
Medicina, así como a su identidad cultural e historia, teniendo en
cuenta todo lo que hace de la institución una universidad única
