Zusammenfassung:The objective of this article is to describe and analyse a pedagogical model, called SIRECA (Spanish acronym for ‘Real Situations in the Centre and in the Classroom'), from the Master's degree in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training and Language Education Teaching (MAES) at the University Pablo de Olavide (UPO). This model, which is applied in the workshops of the master's degree, is based on the description of real situations or cases from the teaching practice, which are presented orally or by video. On the basis of these situations or cases, the workshop lecturer explains the theoretical contents and introduces the necessary strategies and tools to deal with them, so that the students have the opportunity to experience the theoretical contents in a practical way and acquire the different skills that might be necessary to face some other similar situations in which they might find themselves in the future. The data used in this article was collected from a sample of over 1,500 students from the school year 2014-2015 to 2018-2019. The information has been collected following a comparative methodology, based on questionnaires and individual interviews. Results show that those workshops that follow the SIRECA philosophy are usually above the average, while those which do not are usually below it. Therefore, the aim of this paper is to verify the positive impact that the methodology applied in these workshops has on the Initial Teacher Training.
