Zusammenfassung:Under controlled conditions was evaluated the effect of the Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae on larvae of Sagalassa valida settled down in young plants of oil palm, Elaeis guineensis. Six consistent treatments were evaluated in three strains of B. bassiana (Bb. 3; Bb.4; and Bb. 7) two of M. anisopliae (Ma.l and Ma.2) and an absolute witness. Each treatment was applied spraying in the floor of each palm 20 ml of a solution of I x 10 spores/ml. Estimating a larval emergency of 40% previously each palm had been infested individually with 100 eggs of S. valida. They registered the following variables in percentage terms: radical damage (%D), larval mortality (%M), effectiveness of the treatments (%E) and dry material of the primary and secondary roots (MS). In accordance with the obtained results, the strain Ma.2 was the most aggressive one exceeded. The %D were shown notoriously inferior to the witness that on the average 62%, standing out the strain Ma.2 with the smallest damage (I8:2%). Equally this strain registered the highest %M (91.5%) and differed statistically from the strain Bb.4 and from the witness that registered values of 82,5 and 74,3% respectively for this variable. The %E, presented a variation that fluctuated between 42,1 for the strain Bb.4 and 67,0 for the strain Ma. 2. The results of MS fluctuated between 29 and 49 grams, being reflected the smallest average for the witness and the highest for the strain Ma.2.
