The
salat
is one of the five
“pillars
of Islam”
and one of the activities most mentioned by women when they refer to what it
means to be a Muslim. The approach contempla
ted the ethnographic work ca119
between November 2014 and December 2015 in the Al
-
Ahmad and King Fahd Mosques,
located in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The instances of observation and
participation were the Islam classes for women,
the seminar for new Muslims, Friday
sermons, guided sightseeing and some festivities. Interviews were also conducted with
Muslim women participating in these spaces and with the teacher who teaches these classes.
It will be demonstrated that ritual, under
stood as performance, allows to think
and analyze the
components of “
the Islamic way of life
”
, which presents ruptures to its interior, that can be
put into play from the reflection partly enabled by that moment ritual. This scenario is where
the customs a
re made present and the subject from his agency staging them making them
visible.

muy
presentes en la
vida cotidiana de
las mujeres musulmanas: la tradición profética, llamada
sunna
; y la ritualidad que constituye
su práctica diaria. En el enlace
entre
ellos
se debe
problematizar la idea de cuerpo como
medio
a partir del cual se construye el discurso que,
a su vez, se materializa
en ritos. El más
destacado
es el
salat
, uno de los cinco “pilares del Islam” y una de las actividades
más
mencionadas por l
as mujeres
cuando
refieren a qué es ser musulmán.
El abordaje contempló
el
trabajo etnográfico realizado ent
re noviembre de 2014 y diciembre de 2015 en las
Mezquitas Al
-
Ahmad y Rey Fahd
,
ubicadas en la Ciudad autónoma de Buenos Aires,
Argentina. Las instancias de observación y participación
fueron las
clases de Islam para
mujeres, el seminario para nuevos musulm
anes, los sermones de los días viernes, las vis
i
tas
guiadas y algunas festividades.
También se realizaron
entrevistas a mujeres musulmanas que
participan de estos espacios y a la profesora que dicta dichas clases.
