“La tesis y sus vicisitudes”: análisis de la experiencia de doctorandos/as en España

This study aims to analyze the process of the completion of the doctoral thesis and the personal costs associated with it, through the perception of its protagonists. For this purpose, 12 PhD students from the University of Jaén have been interviewed. They are involved in three different stages of their doctoral process: at the beginning, at the end of the process and after the PhD degree was just obtained. The results show a change in the motivation, cost associated and expectations as the process progresses, as well as gender differences. El objetivo del estudio es analizar el proceso de realización de la tesis doctoral y los costes personales asociados al mismo a través de la percepción de sus protagonistas. Para ello, se entrevistan a 12 doctorandos/ as de la Universidad de Jaén (España) que están inmersos en distintos estadios de la tesis: al inicio, en la fase final y una vez obtenido el grado de Doctor/a. Los resultados muestran una modificación en la motivación, costes asociados y expectativas conforme avanza el proceso, así como diferencias de género.
