Zusammenfassung:This work sought to determine the factorsassociated to uncertainty in parents of pretermnewborns hospitalized in neonatal intensive care units(NICU). Methods. This was a cross-sectional analyticstudy with 117 parents (79 mothers and 38 fathers)of preterm newborns hospitalized in three NICUs ofCartagena (Colombia). Sociodemographic informationwas included; the biophysical profile of the preterminfant (PTI) and the results from the Mishel Uncertaintyin Illness Scale. Results. A high level of uncertaintywas found in 49.3% of the mothers and 52.6% of thefathers. The OR lower limits the variables of the parentsthat were associated to uncertainty were: OR = 2.5not having a partner and OR = 2.3 having secondaryeducation, plan OR = 2.8 belonging to socioeconomiclevels 1 and 2.
