Zusammenfassung:Health and production in cattle is affected by various pathogens within which the bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) and Neospora caninum stand out, and despite being being different etiologic agents, both are considered reproductive pathogens for producing abortion and decrease fertility. Bovine viral diarrhea has been reported worldwide and with several manifestations, specially its immunosuppressive effect and thus, the presence of several secondary infections. On the other hand neosporosis is an emerging parasitic protozoan disease, whose causal agent have been found in several regions of the world. The aim of this study was to determine the presence of antibodies against BVDV and N.caninum, in bovine females in production from the municipality and establish whether there was a relationship with the presence of abortions on the study farms. Sampling was done in several properties in the municipality, the serum was obtained and processed through the seroneutralization technique for BVDV and indirect immunofluorescent for N. caninum. The prevalence of animals with antibodies to either pathogen was 55.1 % and 2.8 % , respectively. In all farms it was evaluated at least one animal with antibodies against the virus. There was no relationship found for either pathogen between animals with antibodies and reproductive abnormalities as abortions and birth intervals. It is concluded that there is evidence that both pathogens are present in the cattle of the town of Oicatá and reproductive disorders are multifactorial alterations that must be studied comprehensively.
