INDÍGENAS E IDENTIDADES POLÍTICAS EN ARGENTINA (FINES DEL SIGLO XIX Y SIGLO XX): PROBLEMAS Y PERSPECTIVAS

Addressing the problem of relationships between ethnic and political identities is receiving wider attention in recent academic production in Argentina devoted to the study of indigenous peoples. The text highlights the perspectives in the studies on state-building processes, developments which from ethnohistory and frontier policies have increasingly problematized the issue of indigenous political identifications of the processes they are involved in during the 19th century and finally, problems concerning mechanisms of building citizenship, collective identifications between political and ethnic ones, and their relation- ships with factions and political parties in the transition to the 20th century and along it.
