Zusammenfassung: | The objective of this study was to evaluate the carcass quality of cattle from
intact or castrated Brangus feedlot finished. Were allocated to the treatments 140 Brangus
cattle, with a mean of 21 months: T1, 70 bulls and T2, 70 castrated animals receiving both a
forage diet based on Mombaça grass silage (Panicum maximum cv Mombaça) and sugar cane
(Sacharum officinarum) in nature. Diets were formulated to estimated gains of 1200 g /
animal / day. After slaughter and evisceration, carcasses were weighed (hot carcass weight =
PCQ) for determining yield hot carcass weight (HCW WHR / PVA * 100). Was also assessed
through the finish in the Brazilian System of Evaluation and Grading Carcasses of Bovine.
The mean fasting weight and carcass weight of bulls were higher compared to the castrated,
however, castrated animals showed higher carcass yield compared to bulls. The steers had
