Biometria corporal e avaliação macroscópica de órgãos de carcarás (Caracara plancus, Miller, 1777) de vida livre, capturados na região metropolitana de Fortaleza, Ceará

Aimed to evaluate the biometric body and macroscopic aspects of organs of Southern Caracara (Caracara plancus). It was captured 10 individuals of this bird, male, adults, from the area of International Airport Pinto Martins, Fortaleza, licensed for SISBIO/ICMBio (n. 38438-1). The animals were handling and their corporal weight was obtained when still alive. Thereafter, occurred the anesthesia of the birds (Xilazine 1 mg/kg and Ketamine 20 mg/kg) intramuscularly, following the procedure of euthanasia by intravenous Potassium Chloride. The biometric measurements (mm) obtained were: lengths of culmen, head, tarsus, wing, tail, wingspan and total. Heart, spleen, stomach, liver, intestines and pancreas were analyzed macroscopically, removed and weight up (g) in order to determine the relative organs weight. The intestines were weighed (g), empty and measured about your total length with a tape-measure. Intestinal mucosa was analyzed as inflammatory parameters. Data were expressed in minimal and maximal values and standard deviation. The average corporal weight was 926.6 g ± 71.7, while the relative organs weight was: heart = 1.07%, spleen = 0.06%, stomach = 1.58%, liver = 1.54%, intestine = 1.98% and pancreas = 0.11%. This organs exhibited normal texture, color and consistency and wasn´t observed none alteration at all. Intestinal mucosa presented homogeneous color throughout its length, pinkish to reddish, smooth, free of hemorrhagic areas and macroscopic lesions. All animals present were physiologic normal. Thus, these data can contribute to the knowledge of biology and physiology of this bird, and assist in pathological conditions. Foram capturados 10 exemplares de carcarás, machos, adultos, provenientes da área do aeroporto Internacional Pinto Martins, Fortaleza, com aprovação do SISBIO/ICMBio (n. 38438-1). Os animais foram pesados vivos, contidos, anestesiados (Xilazina, 1 mg/kg/PV e Quetamina 20 mg/kg/PV) por via intramuscular e eutanaziados com cloreto de potássio (CFMV, 2012) por via endovenosa (0,5 mL por animal). As aves foram pesadas (g) e medidos (mm) o cúlmen, cabeça, metatarso, asa, cauda, total do corpo.
