El sitio arqueológico Santa Rosa: ¿Una estructura trampa?

In the archaeological site Santa Rosa (Tandil, Buenos Aires) there is a structure in a trilateral shape made of stone blocks. We pose the hypothesis that such emplacement could have been used to trap wild livestock in times subsequent to the Spaniard conquest. We compared the building features of the Santa Rosa structure and the particular characteristics of the area in which it is located, with pens that have been used to capture shepherding animals in North America, Syria and the province of Catamarca, Argentina. We will also try to comprehend the guidelines of livestock behavior (especially cattle) as a strategy of resource exploitation. En el sitio arqueológico Santa Rosa (Tandil, Buenos Aires) se encuentra una estructura de forma trilátera construida en bloques de piedra. Planteamos la hipótesis que dicho emplazamiento sirviera como trampa en la captura de ganado cimarrón en épocas posteriores a la conquista española. Se comparan las características constructivas de la estructura de Santa Rosa, y las particularidades del área en que se encuentra, con corrales que se utilizaron para capturar animales de pastoreo en Norteamérica, Siria y la provincia de Catamarca, Argentina. También se intentará comprender las pautas de comportamiento del ganado (preferentemente vacuno) como estrategia de explotación del recurso.
