Zusammenfassung:Objective: This study aims to determine whether the acute caffeine improves performance in endurance exercise of power. Materials and Methods: We selected 12 subjects (body mass 72.08 ± 11.58 kg, age 27.58 ± 5.64 years; fat percentage 15.20 ± 4.83%) physically active, with more than a year training in bodybuilding, aged between 20 and 35 years of both sexes. This was a test of 1 repetition maximum (RM) to identify 65% of the maximum strength of individuals. The exercises chosen for the study were the Bench Plan and Leg Press 45. After a specific load of 65%, the test was conducted so that the subjects had to reach the fatigue concentric exercise. Within the implementation of the Plan and the bench press Leg press 45 there was an interval of 5 minutes. Results: Discussion: It is believed that caffeine has mechanisms for central and peripheral action that may trigger important metabolic and physiological changes, which seem to improve athletic performance in the exercises of medium and long term, and those of short duration and high intensity. Few studies have evaluated its effects on endurance and strength. Conclusion: There was no significant difference between the placebo and caffeine, which is necessary for studies in relation to the standard dose protocol and methodology.
