Zusammenfassung: | . Introduction: Depression is usual after an acute coronary syndrome and it influences the prognosis. The results of psychosocial interventions present in Cardiac Rehabilitation (CR) indicate that they modify the risk factors, depression among others.
. Aim: Comparing the level of depression experienced by patients suffering from Acute Myocardial Infarction
(AMI) who have taken part in a program of CR and prevention, with the level of those who haven ft participated in the program, discriminating the results among different groups of age, gender and time.
. Methods: Cohort Study. Inclusion criteria: AMI episode 2 days before the questionnaire was performed; admission in the intensive care unit for . 24 hours between March and April 2010; age between 18 and 70; literate; without episode of depression and/or psychiatric illness before the heart attack. Socio-demographic and clinical variables were analyzed, as well as the questionnaire gThe Beck Depression Inventory II h. Qualitative variables expressed
as absolute frequencies and percentages compared to Ô2 or Fisher. Quantitative variables by means of mean }SD compared to U of Mann-Whitney. Analysis: PASW Statistics version 18.0.
. Results: 14 patients were included, male, age 58.3 }9.6, years old 85.7% of them, 78.6% smokers, 42.9%
hypertensive and with a total score of 14.7 }12 in the depression questionnaire.
The patients with CR were: elder (61 }9.2 vs. 54 }10.8), with smaller weight difference (1.7 }1.7 vs. 2.7 }2.6), higher score in the initial questionnaire (14.2 }8.9 vs. 10 }10.5) and in the final one (12.2 }9 vs. 7.8 }9.5), all of them p>0.05.
. Conclusions: This pilot study showed the existence of depression among the patients with heart attack, both
in the early stage and in the subsequent one. Results were not statistically significant among the cohort exposed and the one not exposed, neither as independent samples nor as related samples.
