Zusammenfassung: | After providing a general insight into Saxo Grammaticus' work and his main Old Norse sources, this paper sets out to analyze the passages that Saxo claims to have translated from old Scandinavian poems and narrations. After a brief exposition and comparison with Icelandic fornaldarsögur and poems, the Danish historian turns out to be a free 'editor' rather than an accurate translator of his possible sources.
