Capitalness Index of the UN Member States Capital Cities

The database presents the information on UN member states' capital cities including geographic coordinates (latitude and longitude) as well as the capitalness index calculated by the authors. The database lays the foundation for comparative capital studies, especially studying their place in political and territorial structure of the state and using spatial statictics methodology. The dataset can be used to fasilitate accumulating, visualizing and analysing statistical materials in capital studies. Another important potential use of the base is creating a special neighbourhood matrix based on the closeness of capitals, not state centroids.
