Zusammenfassung:This dataset originates from a study investigating the relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and happiness among university students, with a focus on the mediating role of basic psychological needs satisfaction. The data were collected from 205 undergraduate students at the University of Crete during the spring semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The primary aim was to examine how components of emotional intelligence (Self-Emotion Appraisal, Appraisal of Others' Emotion, Use of Emotion, and Regulation of Emotion) contribute to happiness, and whether this relationship is mediated by satisfaction of psychological needs such as autonomy, competence, and relatedness. The dataset contains the following variables: gender (categorical), age (continuous), Emotional Intelligence scores (WLEIS subscales: SEA, AOE, UOE, ROE), happiness (measured through the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire - OHQ), and satisfaction of basic psychological needs (autonomy, competence, and relatedness). These quantitative measures were assessed using validated scales, including the Wong and Law Emotional Intelligence Scale and the Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction Scale, among others. The data provide insights into the emotional well-being of students and its link to happiness, offering a rich resource for further analyses on emotional intelligence and psychological well-being in academic settings.
