Zusammenfassung:The dataset provides data on Regional Presidents’ career paths in the 15 Italian Ordinary Statute Regions (OSRs) for the 1970-2015 period. The dataset comprises information on Regional Presidents’ personal and socio-economic data (such as presidents’ name and surname, their age; sex, type of education; previous profession etc.); their party career before entering office (such as party membership; sub-regional party leadership; regional party leadership; membership of national party executive); their institutional career before and after entering office (such as mayors, presidents of province, members of regional institutions; members of national parliament; ministers, members of European Parliament) and other information regarding their term as Regional Presidents (i.e. date when entering and leaving office; time in office in days; early term interruption; political party affiliation).This dataset deals with all chief executives of ordinary regions from the year in which these institutions were established (1970) to 31 December 2015. We have not counted those who were appointed only as acting heads of government. Overall, our dataset comprises 173 individuals.
