Aliquots of gastrocnemius muscle homogenates were loaded onto SDS-PAGE gels (5 μg protein/well) and, after electrophoresis, the proteins were transferred to nylon membranes and blotted with antibodies to eIF2α and eIF5 (1:1500 dilution). For details, see Methods. Abbreviations are defined in the legend to Figure 1. The columns are the means ± S.E.M. of at least 8 rats per group.
