In vivo movie of a Trichogramma wasp emerging from its host egg. As it was not possible to predict the time of emergence beforehand, the irradiation of the specimen was initially interrupted by several irradiation-free pauses in order to keep the overall dose at a minimum. In sequence 6 to 23, the setup experienced a slight drift, which was corrected after sequence 23 by realigning the pitch angle of the crystals. More details are given in the main text and in the Supplement 1 Section 1 (Materials and Methods). Please note that the time-varying cloudy background pattern results from the amplification of low spatial frequency noise by phase retrieval.
