Campus Planning + Environmental Design: Spaces Promoting Equity, Diversity, And Well-Being in Student Success

Environmental design methods should be utilized by campus planners and collegiate educators as they develop policies and practices that support equity, inclusion + well-being. Recognizing and understanding its dynamics are significant in shaping academic planning and student success. Creating a sense of welcome on campus for all students is where an inclusive environment begins. From the perspective of environmental design, the literature demonstrates how planned campus landscapes relate directly to the goals of inclusion and safety: in some cases, drawing students into the setting, and for others, excluding them.
