Zusammenfassung: | Poster from 1st International Conference on Ground Penetrating Radar EuroGPR 2019 Poland (21-22 November 2019, Wroclaw, Poland). This poster explores the idea of using GPR as a tool to recognize remains of Soviet-era military inheritance in the former Soviet Army garrison town Pstrąże in SW Poland (Dolnośląskie Voivodeship). The implementation of GPR-based research could enhance current body of knowledge about e.g. nuclear weapons storage facilities, their construction, and confirm or deny the existence of invisible parts. Additionally, given the complexity and variability of the area and its infrastructure, it could serve as a training area for GPR operators and trainees. Considering its current state, this poster intends to be a wake-up call to recognize, document, actively protect and conserve or at least discuss the idea of Soviet-era military inheritance (or heritage?): how to treat it and whether - or how - it could be used for new purposes. |
