Zusammenfassung:The purpose of the present study is to develop GIS based methodology for the identification of sites suitable for the rainwater harvesting at village level for a developing country like India. The methodology uses geographic information system based conceptual framework incorporating analytic hierarchy process, weighted overlay process, and soil conservation service curve number method. The conceptual framework supports to detect potential runoff accumulation sites based on the several spatial features (land use/land cover, slope, rainfall, standardized precipitation index, stream order, topographic wetness index, height above the nearest drainage, and curve number) of the watershed.
