Zusammenfassung: | This map has been created in the project "Variability and Change in the Canadian Cryosphere" . It is the result of the application of an algorithm developed by Catherine Lagacé during her M.Sc. studies at the INRS-ETE. In this algorithm, 3 variables are used : 1) 36,5 GHz Brightness Temperatures, 2) 18,7 GHz Brightness Temperatures, and 3) Water percentage by AMSR/E pixel. Once all these variables are gathered, they are used to calculate the Temperature Gradient of Weighted Vertical Polarisation (GTVP;Gradient de Température en polarisation Verticale Pondéré). GITV= [(Tb36.5GHzVert-a1)-(Tb18.7GHzVert-a1]/df ; where a1= water percentage by AMSR/E pixel. If GITV is negative, it means that the soil is frozen, in otherwise it is thawed or unfrozen .
