Zusammenfassung: | Phytophthora lateralis is the culprit of cypress root rot. The disease was first detected on Chamaecyparis lawsoniana in 1923 in the United States. In the following years, the pathogen spread to the western part of the United States, Canada (British Columbia) and Taiwan, and since 1998 also to Europe. The main host of P. lateralis is cypress Chamaecyparis lawsoniana, with species infested to a lesser extent: C. formosensis, C. obtusa, C. pisifera and thuyas: Thuja occidentalis, T. plicata and Taxus brevifolia. Due to the similarity between the climatic conditions of the Polish area and the regions where the pathogen, the agrophyte can also occur in the PRA area and cause economic losses. The most likely means of entry is transportation of infected seedlings. |
