Static X-ray CT and PET imaging datasets on a fractured basalt core sample

Zusammenfassung: | The datasets contain three-dimensional tomographic images of a saw-cut fractured basalt core acquired using positron emission tomography (PET) and clinical X-ray Computed tomography (X-ray CT). For PET, the scans are taken at steady-state following the injection of an aqueous 18F-FDG and the dataset depicts the distribution of the injected radiotracer within the fractures and pore spaces of the basalt core. For X-ray CT, two sets of scans are provided, which include raw tomographic images of the fractured basalt core imaged when the sample is completely dry and when the sample is saturated with water. These datasets were used in Kurotori et al. (2022)* to assess quantitatively the applications of PET and X-ray CT for measuring micrometer-scale fracture aperture distributions in heterogeneous rocks. Further details on the datasets can be found in Kurotori et al. (2022) and the attached Readme file. |
