Zusammenfassung: | Love in Idleness by Kim Noce is an animatedfilm commissioned for the Still ShakespeareSeries as part of the consortiumShakespeare400. This consortium ofleading cultural, creative and educationalorganisations was coordinated by King’sCollege London to mark the 400thanniversary of Shakespeare’s death in2016. Noce’s film for the Still ShakespeareSeries was developed during workshopssupported by the Cultural Institute at King’sCollege London where the invitation was tocreate a film based on research into iconicShakespearean images. In particular tothink about that way that certain well-knownimages have been absorbed into a sharedcultural memory. The resulting work: Lovein Idleness is an authored re-imaging of ascene from A Midsummer Night’s Dreamwhen a quarrel with her husband leads to apunishment for Titania who is made to lovea donkey. Revisiting this story from afeminist lens Love in Idleness presents anempowered Titania who takes ownsershipof her body. Made with charcoal on paper;the animation is composed of a series ofdrawings constantly erased and retracedover a 9 month period. The film went on toscreen at over 35 major festivals includingAnimafest, Zagreb; Encounters, Bristol;London Short Film Festival and MIAF,Melbourne supported by Film London’sArtist Moving Image Network FLAMIN. |
