Zusammenfassung: | The San Jose Hills, located in the eastern part of Los Angeles County, California, occupy a rectangular block of some 40 square miles in area, the center of which is 30 miles to the east of Los Angeles (Plate I). Although a separate physiographic unit, the region may be described as that portion of the Puente Hills lying north of the San Jose Wash (Plate II). The area mapped extends from Pomona southwest to Puente, a distance of 11 miles. It may readily be reached from either town, both of which lie on the main line of the Southern Pacific Railroad and on U.S. Highway Number 99, known locally as the Valley Boulevard. All parts of the area are readily accessible, for it is cut by roads in the eastern, central, and western portions. |
