Zusammenfassung:Aim: to determine the antibacterial effect of 0.05 ppm ozonated water on oral S. aureus, S. mutans, P. intermedia, Lactobacillus spp., С. albicans, C. krusei. Materials and Methods: The clinical isolates were identified. Bacteria and fungi samples were obtained from subgingival plaque of a patient with generalized chronic marginal periodontitis in exacerbation (suppuration) stage. Preparation of ozonated water: Ozonated water was produced by the ozonegenerator with ultraviolet radiation BOP-01/27 (NanEMA, Russia). The saturation of each 10 ml of distilled water with ozone was carried out during 10 min. The concentration of ozone in water was measured by the indicator strips (eXact 486634 Micro Ozone Strips; Industrial Test Systems Inc, USA). The concentration was 0,05 ppm (0.09956 mg/m3). Cultivation of microorganisms in bioreactor: S. aureus was cultured in 4 ml of brain heart infusion broth M210, S. mutans were cultivated in Todd&HewittBroth - М313, P. intermedia was cultivated in Columbia Broth Base - М145. Lactobacillus spp. were cultivated in Sabouraud Dextrose Broth - M033. С. albicans was cultivated in Fluid Sabouraud Medium - М013. All media were produced by HiMedia Laboratories, India. For each isolate the suspension was prepared according to the turbidity of 0,5±0,3 McFarland test, 0.05 ppm ozonated water and distilled water were applied to the bacterial suspensions. The cultivation was done in the bioreactor for 50 hours. The measurements of optical density (OD) of 850 nm, calculation of growth rate and plotting of growth curves. The regression analysis was done with an assessment of Fisher's criterion and Pearson's correlation coefficient. Conclusion: In the presented study useful concentration of ozonated water was investigated. The growth of S. mutans, S. aureus и P. intermedia, С. albicans and C. krusei was suppressed and the growth of Lactobacillus spp. was not affected by the 0.05 ppm ozonized water. Thus, 0.05 ppm ozonated water rinsing can be an effective adjunct method to decrease bacterial load, prevent fungal overgrowth and without suppressive effect on commensal lactobacillus. The raws and processed data are presented in the files.
