A computational simulation using COMSOL multi-physics was used to investigate the impact of blood flow velocity on wall shear stress in a human carotid artery, shedding light on its implications for atherosclerosis progression. The 2-D model, employing Stokes law for flow, simulates plaque growth and progression in a previously plaque-free vessel, varying velocities between 30 m/s and 125 m/s.
