Acceptance of recommended vaccinations during pregnancy: a cross-sectional study in Southern Italy

The dataset was used in a cross-sectional study aimed to assess uptake to the vaccinations recommended in pregnancy in a sample of pregnant women and to identify potential determinants in order to develop effective strategies to increase it. This study took place between October 2021 and April 2022 in Calabria region, part of Southern Italy. An anonymous and structured questionnaire, distributed by a research team to pregnant women randomly selected among those attending outpatient obstetric and gynaecology visit or during inpatient days in selected hospital, was composed of five sections: (1) the first section collected information about the sociodemographic characteristics and pregnancy; (2) the second section investigated general knowledge of the recommended vaccinations during pregnancy; (3) the third section measured attitudes and perceptions about safety and efficacy of recommended vaccines and about perception of VPDs risk for themselves and their unborn child during pregnancy; (4) the fourth section explored adherence to recommended vaccinations, and information or advice received during pregnancy; (5) the last section explored the main sources of information and the need to receive additional news about recommended vaccination during pregnancy.
